Adventures in Ladakh & Nepal, and Ski Mountaineering & Alpine Walls
We are delighted that KMC members are invited to the Rucksack Club slideshow series hosted at Summit Up.
Tuesday 2 March 7:30pm: A Himalayan Odyssey – Adam Goldsworthy and Lofoten Antics – Muir Morton
Join Adam for a Himalayan Odyssey in Ladakh and Nepal, including his acclimatisation in Ladakh attempting Korzok Kangri (6,110m) and Kang Yatse I (6,410m) followed by an attempt on Annapurna IV (7,525m). With these ascents yet to take place, there may or may not be summit success, but we’re assured of some great tales either way!
Skimo Racing and Summer Rock in the Arctic – Muir will share his love for skinny ski racing and mountaineering, sea cliffs and climbing in the midnight sun. He will cover some experiences of ‘fell-running on skis’ – also known as Ski Mountaineering or Skimo, with races in the Alps and the weather blasted “Lofoten Arctic Triple” race in Norway. He will also share tales of climbing some of Lofoten’s big granite walls on “The Priest” and “Stetind”.

The venue for all this entertainment is Summit Up Climbing Wall in Oldham so why not get there early and get in a few routes?
These shows are OPEN TO ALL and FREE to everyone (apart from the BritRock event), regardless of whether you are a Rucksack Club or KMC member or not. Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7:30pm with voluntary donations and a raffle in support of a different climbing related charity at each event. Note the earlier start time of 7pm for the BritRock screening on 3 December.
If you like your slideshow accompanied with a little refreshment, you can bring your own booze, and the Summit Up cafe will be serving brews, cakes and pizza before the show.
If you can’t make it in person, the shows (apart from Brit Rock) will also all be on Zoom so you can enjoy them from the comfort of your sofa.
