What a great turnout for the first KMC walk of the year! We met at the Chapel-en-le-Frith station carpark (fortunately there was sufficient free parking NOT in the carpark!), A long caravan headed up from the station towards Castlenaze, gathering Paul and Jim on the way up. We had a quick wander over the remains of the iron age hill fort and then started our clockwise tour of Combs Moss.
Rain started as we plodded north along the edge. Conversation (including suggestions for a climbing playlist) and a short stop for tea and cake kept us going.
Lunch was in a chilly wind almost but not quite sheltered by a wall, the walk then strung out as everyone tried to warm up, trekking briskly round the north edge and then back down towards Chapel, where it concertinaed back up in the carpark.
Top marks to Kate Harvey for being the only one to use the train!
Note for the future – Combs Moss is a “no dogs at all even on a lead” zone – worth bearing in mind if you are planning a walk there.
Thanks to all who came along, it was lovely to get out for some fresh air and chat!

Meet Promo:
This has taken me some time, but finally a meet promo, Happy New Year everyone!
I propose a gentle walk from Chapel-en-le-Frith Station, climbing up to Combs Moss to have a look at the iron age hill fort, then taking in the views all the way round by doing a circuit of the edge of Combs Moss. Join us to rehabilitate from your Christmas Lurgy, try out your Christmas gear presents and start making plans for 2023!
Meet at the station at 9.45am.
Distance about 8.5 miles. I'll bring some cake.
There is currently no train strike planned for the 8th Jan, but of course services may be messed up - if you can get there, I'm sure someone will give you a lift home! The 0850 from Manchester Piccadilly gets in at 0939. If you need a lift from Chorlton I should have 2-3 spaces in the car.
