A Shropshire Walk

Al

I arrived at the start of the walk around 9am, just as it started to rain! After a little look around, a second breakfast and no one around that I recognised, I decided to do the long walk option, which was to visit three trig points. Just as I was to leave the car a few minutes before ten I received a number of texts from Kate to say she was not far away but in the end, she was not certain about directions and finally texted ‘have a good day’.

At 10:20 the light rain had virtually stopped and I headed off to the first trig at Heath Mynd (452m), the going was especially soft at the beginning of this leg. Second leg to the trig at Corndon Hill (513m) and the third leg to the amazing trig at Stiperstones. The round trip was about 16 miles and the actual route walked can be found here. Having never been to the area, I have to say I was quite impressed. It is a mixture of Dartmoor, Yorkshire Dales and the Cotswolds. Great views and the weather was actually very kind.

Kate did arrive and enjoyed walking part of the Shropshire Way in the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve, ‘the simplest route I could find that did not need an OS map’. She finished her day in the visitors centre café with a slice of homemade cake wondering where the meet leader had got to.
