Walking Meet
Present: Laura Collier, Roger Dyke, Dave Shotton, Trish Cranston, Al Metelko.
We arrived in Longnor in a light drizzle. Laura, Roger and Dave were already in the Cobbles Café and we joined them for a cup of tea. With the weather much improved, we headed for the first trig point at 361m near Hittend Campsite but decided not to visit it as it involved more mud, trespass and a field of cows. After passing through Fawfieldhead we headed north to the north side of Hollins Hills, stopping for elevenses in Hollinsclough. Then we headed southeast to have our lunch stop on top of Chrome Hill in beautiful sunshine and fast disappearing snow. An interesting steep muddy ascent took us to the top of Parkhouse Hill. Giving the party the choice of getting back to the start in daylight or the final trig point we carried on to High Wheeldon, summiting just after sun set. A steep grassy decent and we reached Longnor without need of head torches which most of us had forgotten. Then it was tea, drinking chocolate, and cake at the Longnor Craft Centre to end the day.
